What We Do
North Queensland Export Terminal (NQXT) is a multi-user export cargo handling facility that currently provides strategic access to nearly a dozen major resource production customers.
North Queensland Export Terminal (NQXT) is a dedicated deep-water coal export terminal with a nameplate capacity of 50 million tonnes per annum.
The terminal plays an important role in supporting the Queensland and Australian economies through the service it provides to Australia’s significant resources sector.
The terminal is connected to railway systems that provide access from the Bowen Basin region. It is also an export gateway for the Galilee Basin. Since commencing operations in 1984, the terminal has expanded progressively to its current nameplate capacity.
In financial year 2020, 32 million tonnes of high quality thermal and metallurgical coal were loaded through our terminal.
The Port of Abbot Point has been exporting for 35 years, safely, responsibly and efficiently, while respecting the local community and environment.
